About Marisa Oyelaran
I am Marisa Oyelaran, a North Shore trail guide and trip planner. I live in North Vancouver, I spent four summers working inside Capilano Suspension Bridge Park as a seasonal interpreter before going independent, and I have walked that canyon in every season for eleven years. This site is mine. It is not the park, it is not run by the park’s owners, and it will tell you when the answer is go to Lynn Canyon instead.
Why I built this
Because of one question, asked over and over in slightly different words: is it worth the money. The adult gate price is CAD $76.95 and it has gone up every year I have been here. When someone types that question into a search box they get pages of copy telling them the rainforest is beautiful, which is true and useless. What they want is an actual answer, so I wrote one at is it worth the money, and I wrote the full cost breakdown underneath it.
The second question is transport. Most people asking about Capilano do not have a car, and the free shuttle is seasonal, so half the practical problem is simply arriving. That is what the getting-there page is for, and it is why the combo tours on this site exist as a recommendation rather than an upsell.
What four summers inside the gates taught me
Mostly small things that matter on the day. Morning slots are quieter and it is not close. Crossing the bridge takes five to fifteen minutes and then people are surprised there is another two hours of park. The Cliff House Restaurant does not take reservations, so the queue at 13:00 is nobody’s fault. Raptors Ridge is only open late May to September and the number of people who arrive in March expecting owls is high. And the suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure and Cliffwalk are all inaccessible to wheelchair users, which the park is honest about and which I would rather you knew before you paid.
